We came in during Ramadan and we were so lucky to have a chance to try their ifta menu. Not only the food is amazing, the vibe and people here make us feel like home. Very warm welcoming that's definitely needed in this city. We will be regular customers and keep coming back! Thank you

Such a cozy and inviting restaurant! The place is small and cute. The food is tasty, portions are generous, and the price is appropriate. It seems to be family-run and everyone treats you super well. Oh, the desserts are delicious too.

Got off the 495 to skip traffic and made this wonderful discovery. Best coffee in recent memory and delicious main fares. Love the fish and lamb dish over choice of carbs. Charming and inviting atmosphere, lucky they had a table last minute. Very warm and friendly service. Instant favorite and grateful to find. Will be back!!

What a spectacular experience. My friend and I came in for a Merguez sandwich and were not disappointed but what really made this trip special was the lovely lady at the register. We talked about mahadjeb and jewelry and I could've spent all day just chatting with her. Such warm people and amazing hospitality. A plus point is that there's a clean large bathroom for use! 100% would be back in a heartbeat.

I hope this Algerian family-run establishment stays around for a very long time. I've been looking for North African cafes and restaurants, and this cafe not only hits the spot but eating here felt like being in someone's home. We ordered merguez and lamb daily special--the meals were delicious! The owner is lovely and the atmosphere cozy. I'll be back to try their other dishes!

I've never had Algerian or North African cuisine before, and it's near the neighborhood that I live at, so I wanted to check it out. It's a small place, but very intimate and homey feeling, and they have a bathroom that customers can use. There is no need to make reservations here, so you can just walk in. This seems like a family owned and run restaurant. They're not open on Monday's. For the menu, they serve daily specials, lunch, dinner, non-alcoholic drinks, and sweets. They don't seem to have a bar or serve anything alcoholic here. I went on a Friday night, so I ended up getting the Couscous dish. Which are tiny steamed balls of flour, with homemade broth in a cup, and vegetables that come with a choice of lamb or beef. They do have other dishes such as salads, soups, and entrees. They run out of Baklawa fast as it's made first thing in the AM, so get it asap.

There's no need to question whether or not you should go....it's bad ass delicious Algerian food. Walk from the 7 and enjoy the hell out of this cute cozy cafe that serves up amazing merguez and has rechta on weekends only I believe. The manager/owner is so sweet and attentive as is the server. I love the chill vibe combined with taste food. LOVE.

I had to visit Kasbah Cafe after reading Dave Cook's terrific writeup about their delicious Algerian delights in Culinary Backstreets, and especially because I grew up very close to this location so I felt I needed to explore the new parts of my old neighborhood. I'm thrilled to see Sunnyside becoming more of a food destination! The owners have a special entree each day (I was debating between the Friday lamb couscous and this Saturday dish), and I was happy to have the chance to order their chekhchoukha on a Saturday--I've never had anything like it! Under a huge lamb joint with incredibly tender meat falling off the bone lies semolina dough that the chef rolls out by hand very thinly and tears into pieces that are then made into stew with zucchini, chickpeas, and carrot, over which one pours a cup of delicious broth. This could easily have fed two people and was savory and warming. We also got the merguez sandwich, and given the option of vegetable or French fry filling, I always opt for fries, duh. The merguez is made by the owners' friend and was some of the best I've had in NYC, bolstered by a spiced mayo and the fries tucked neatly into a long roll. Don't miss out on the baked goods! We got makrout, a semolina cookie filled with date and soaked in a fragrant syrup, and it transported me to somewhere warm and sunny. Highly recommend stopping by, especially for the weekend dishes; the warmth of hospitality is so palpable and the food is made with love.

I was very happy to check this new place out and it didn't disappoint. I got the hummus, a loft of bread and baklava. Everything was really good but my favorite was the hummus. It was really delicious and it tasted super fresh. Can't wait to come back to try different things.

Lovely cafe my hubby found on IG! Stopped by today for lunch and the food was delicious. It felt nostalgic after my Algerian trip this summer. The owner came over and introduced herself (my husband had met her the day before when he stopped by). Oh, and the sweets are amazing!!
